Synonyms Sets

There are multiple synonyms sets available during text rewriting process: uncategorized set of common synonyms, your own set, set defined by other users and set made by people which you defined as "workgroup".

During rewrite process all these layers of synonyms are being combined into this sequence:

  1. Your own synonyms set always has priority - system check text first if there are words which may be rewritten using your own set of synonyms (if used - you can turn it off)
  2. System check words left after your set applied - if there are any synonyms defined by people from your workgroup
  3. System check words left from previous 2 operations if there are synonyms defined by all other site users
  4. If there are any words left - system will try to use common set.

Common set is uncategorized mass of approximately 40 thousands English words interlinked into database of 250 thousands synonyms. This set output barely readable texts - but still these texts are somewhat unique.

As you could guess - your own synonyms set is database of words defined/created by you. You can categorize synonyms in different categories to apply them later: same words can have different synonyms sets under different categories. Example: craft <=> ship in "transportation" and craft <=> skill in "jobs". Your set is always better then others.

"Human-powered" synonyms set is database of words defined by all users of this site. Most interesting part of it: more often word being used by different people - more often it will appear in results. So texts rewritten with "human powered" set becomes more and more readable with time. There are certain mechanics to prevent typos from appearing as common words. Note: if you use "workgroup" set - all words counted (assumed you trust people from your workgroup).

"Workgroup set" being gathered from people whom you defined as your workgroup. Workgroup set allow to control quality of "human-defined" synonym set - you can add people whos synonyms set is better for your case. To create workgroup you can simply go to "community" page and select people who have most interesting synonyms sets (click on "add" link with star icon in profiles). Each user has link to his set of synonyms ("colored cubes" icon). You can add/remove people to/from your workgroup any time based on your current task (real estate, travel, business, etc). This option can help you to save huge amount of time needed to create your own synonyms sets.

Context (synonyms categories) handle themed sets: same words can have different synonyms under different categories.Words in categories defined by users - "common set" doesn't have categories.
